Press release n°5 - November 2008

Following an intensive trial period, La Sportiva’s ski mountaineering boot was officially launched on 20th November during the “Dolomiti sotto le stelle” soirèe, which also unveiled the agenda for next season’s ski mountaineering championships.

The event was held in the Ziano di Fiemme town hall with discussions led by “John John” and “Macha”.  A wide range of guests were present: town hall officials, representatives from various sporting associations in the Trentino and Veneto regions, and several top ranking Italian ski mountaineering athletes.  Naturally, La Sportiva’s general manager Lorenzo Delladio was there, along with fellow project creators Diego Amplatz and Giuliano Jellici who presented this totally revolutionary carbon model to the public.

The project creators gave a stunning technical presentation and the response from the audience was tremendous. Noteworthy features include the three characteristic patents and the incredible lightweight properties (jealously kept secret until now). 

At the end of the presentation athletes were given the opportunity to take a closer look at the model and try on a pair of thermal booties. 

This was an extremely important evening for La Sportiva as it gave the project team the chance to come face to face with the outside world, after months spent in laboratory conditions and on glaciers, meticulously developing what is set to be this winter season’s most interesting newcomer to the market
